Ketamine Treatment and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine is FDA approved for pain and anesthesia treatment and its use for the treatment of depression and other mental health conditions is at this time off label. There are hundreds of research studies published on the benefits of ketamine for depression. Ketamine brings significant benefits to approximately 70% of people with depression. Ketamine is generally safe and well-tolerated when administered in a well-controlled environment. Ketamine can lead to rapid improvement of depression and other symptoms. Current research is elucidating its benefits for alcoholism, substance dependencies, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other conditions. At Mind Body Seven, we focus on ketamine treatment for depression and deep transformational psychotherapy work.

Ketamine gives talk therapy a boost.

What to Expect?

Ketamine will be administered by a licensed clinician and you will be accompanied for the entire treatment by a licensed psychotherapist, psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner. Your mental health clinician will meet with you for prep and integration sessions and for your ketamine treatment sessions. KAP sessions will facilitate a deeper exploration of your patterns in psychotherapy integration sessions that happen before and after the ketamine sessions. Ketamine facilitates brain plasticity and learning new ways of thinking and behaving to create more freedom, fulfillment, and joy in your life.

How is ketamine administered?

The primary approach is an Intramuscular injection (IM) of ketamine, given in the shoulder in two doses for a smooth experience. In addition, IV, subcutaneous, and intranasal administration are options.

Treatment Process:

  1. Phone Consultation: A free phone consultation to determine if you would be a good candidate for ketamine treatment.

  2. Medical Evaluation: In the first meeting, your clinician will gather information from you about your current and past symptoms, previous treatment, medical history, and relevant life history.

  3. Ketamine Administration Sessions: ketamine sessions take place in our office in Brooklyn. Sessions last approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to allow time for the psychotherapeutic setup of your session with your clinician in addition to the actual active medicine journey. We recommend a series of 4 to 6 treatments over 2 to 6 weeks.

  4. Set-Up and Integration Psychotherapy Sessions: We recommend adding set-up and integration sessions with your clinician to get the full psychotherapeutic benefit of the treatment.

Cost per session: $495 + (varies depending on the practitioner who will be with you for the whole session)
